The EmancipatorWHAT IS SICKNESS?
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord
— James 5:14
In general, scientific terms, sickness is from the Greek word, "astheneō", meaning the state of debilitation from the physical or functional abnormality of a disease in the body. From a scriptural overview, sickness is an abnormal condition of life resulting from the subconscious recognition and sensual perception of corruption in the body. Paying a close attention to the definition of sickness from the scriptures could be the key to your personal experience of the liberty that Jesus Christ brought to the world from all diseases and sicknesses (Isaiah 53:4-5, Psalm 103:1-3, Matthew 8:16-17, 1 Peter 2:24). Why? It indicates that sickness results from a subconscious recognition. That means living in a state of sickness consciousness or the possibility of disease is the foundation for sicknesses. Secondly, it shows that the human perception of corruption is the superstructure for experiencing sicknesses. Meditate on this a little.
Dear Holy Spirit, I receive Your ministration of wisdom and revelation to understand what sickness really is, in Jesus' Name.
