The EmancipatorWHAT THE CROSS MEANS TO YOU
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross
— Colossians 2:14
One of the first effects of Adam's distorted self-image was his wrong perception that God was against him. That was why he became afraid of the very God that came to fellowship with him in the cool of the day after he acted contrary to what he was told (Genesis 3:8-10). Adam was ashamed, meaning he felt something was intrinsically wrong with him. Now by the cross, Jesus Christ killed all that appeared contrary to human life, in their judgement. This means that any perception that you are not up to God's standard of you was nailed to the cross. This is huge because it implies that by the cross, you are made God's righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21). Nothing is wrong with you in God's sight. Yes, you! With all the limitations you have put on yourself before God, the truth is that because of the cross, you are perfect in God's sight (Colossians 1:22)
Oh, praise God forever, for by the cross, Jesus Christ has presented me holy and unblameable and unreproveable in the sight of my Father. Hallelujah!
