RESTING IN HIS FATHERHOOD

The scriptures are clear concerning the rest of God for us. It is the state of ceasing from one's own labour of work (Hebrews 4:1, Hebrews 4:6, Hebrews 4:10). The reality of Yahweh as one's Father, is the foundation to this rest. This is much more than a general head knowledge of God being a Father. We understood from last month that getting settled in the reality of Yahweh as Father, is key to a deep yet simple spirituality. We saw how Jesus' secret was His settlement in the Fatherhood of Yahweh. Truly, Jesus Christ came to reveal Yahweh to us, so that we might know Him as Father, the same way He does (John 17:25-26). So, as seen in our verse today, in His format of teaching on prayer, His prime focus was on Yahweh as Father. Really, the desire of the Godhead is for us to know Him as Father and therefore enjoy rest in this life as His children. We will discuss more this week along these lines.
