The EmancipatorIMMORTALITY: WHAT IS TRUTH?
Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find no fault at all
— John 18:38
One of the most important questions of life, apart from what purpose is, is "what is truth?". Seeking truth has been one of the foundations to the many religions, philosophies and cults in this world. After several millennia of fruitless seeking, the postmodern man has generally concluded that there is no truth or that truth is relative. Yes, there are degrees of the same truth, but truth is absolute not relative. Pilate, in our main verse today nearly got the answer to that age-long question but was not patient enough to hear it from God. Jesus the Christ, did not hide it though. He stated plainly, "...thy word is truth" (John 17:17). Practically, truth is from the Greek word, "alētheia" which means verity, referring to the fundamental reality of a thing. When it comes to your immortality in Christ, you must know what the fundamental reality is. We shall discuss that tomorrow.
