IT IS NOT A WORDPLAY

Some people think, "But we all know what sin is. Is it not stealing, killing, fornicating etc.?". Others surmise, "Are they not just playing with words to permit people to sin?". But truly, many are so wrongly brainwashed concerning sin, that they have not taken time to look well into the Word to understand it. They do not understand the difference between the tree and its fruit when it comes to sin. They are unable to see that when the scriptures are speaking of the fruit because that is what people easily relate with, it is actually drawing their attention to the main problem which is the tree. Jesus clearly revealed this principle when He said, "Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit" (Matthew 12:33). So, the goal of listing the fruits of sin like stealing, fornication etc., is to make people know the tree.
